eighteen

this is my friend, jeroen. i met him about two years ago on a sunny sunday afternoon. a whole group of people including the both of us, were at a lake, cooling our skin after a long bike ride. i was with two other friends, who were also friends of his. thats how we were introduced. what actually got us talking was the topic on movies. we found that we had a common taste in movies and series, and for some odd reason, no other person present understood our mutual interests. so the two of us spent the afternoon sharing music and our opinions on movies and series. my dutch was no where close to understandable. but his english was pretty ok, gotta love the dutch accent! i have to say, that he has improved by a great deal. from there on, we were friends. through the year that i lived in holland, he was there for me exactly when i needed him. when we hung out, i knew that i could be exactly who i am. and thats because he is almost as crazy and goofy as i am. he always smiled and told me to look on the positive side of things. i haven't seen him for about 10 months since i moved back to indonesia. i miss him. today is his 18th birthday. i wish i was there to celebrate with him.

jeroen, i hope you have a wonderful day with your friends and family. i wish all the best for you this year as you learn more about life and all its strangeness. i hope that you will meet new people that will inspire you and love you. and that you will be able to see the light in ever situation. never give up on what you love. pursue your dreams with your whole heart. because i know that with a brain like yours, you can get anywhere. i hope that our friendship will last another thousand years. its been a pleasure getting to know you, and i don't want to stop. you're a remarkable person, jeroen, don't you dare forget that.
liefs, stefanie
